PTPN III Plantation (Persero), through its sub-holding PTPN IV PalmCo, has begun the phased implementation of the Zero Over Dimension Over Loading (ODOL) transport policy, set to take effect nationally in Indonesia by January 2027. This commitment was solidified with the launch of a pilot project for crude palm oil (CPO) logistics within the PTPN IV Regional III operational area in Riau Province.

Jatmiko K. Santosa, CEO of PTPN IV PalmCo, stated that the company is fully committed to complying with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development's regulations regarding vehicle standardization for road transport. This operational move is designed to mitigate traffic accident risks and ensure the long-term sustainability of highway infrastructure.

'PTPN IV PalmCo is ready to support the success of the Zero ODOL 2027 program,' Santosa said. 'We view this policy not just as regulatory compliance, but as a strategic step in creating a safe logistics distribution ecosystem, protecting public facilities, and supporting a green supply chain in the national palm oil industry.'

The pilot implementation focuses on CPO transport routes from the Sei Pagar Palm Oil Mill in Kampar Regency to the Pelindo Dumai Port. Rury C. Baskoro, Director of Marketing and System Management at PTPN IV PalmCo, explained that the planned testing phase will take place from October to December 2026.

Baskoro noted that transport operations will adhere to manufacturer standards and government legislation while maintaining commercial accountability. The company aims to eventually apply the Zero ODOL policy across all operational regions, spanning Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi.

Argo, Head of Business Support for Regional III, detailed the technical readiness, including budget allocation in the 2027 corporate plan and enhanced coordination with transport partners. This includes encouraging partners to formalize agreements with official vehicle manufacturers to meet technical eligibility.

The government's Zero ODOL policy is designed to prevent logistics vehicles from carrying loads exceeding factory capacity. In addition to reducing fatalities caused by mechanical failures like brake failure or tire blowouts, the initiative seeks to foster fair competition among logistics operators and reduce greenhouse gas emissions caused by engine overloading.
