Alexandria-based Extracted Oils Company, one of the subsidiaries of the Holding Company for Food Industries, is embarking on a comprehensive development plan aimed at boosting its operational efficiency and strengthening its industrial performance. As part of this plan, the company intends to procure a boiler water treatment (reverse osmosis, RO) plant for its factory in Mahram Bek, Alexandria.
A company official said the tender session for the plant has been scheduled for 4 November, with several specialised supply firms expected to take part. The move is aimed at modernising the factory's infrastructure and improving water resource efficiency in line with sustainability standards.
Separately, the company announced significant progress in resolving its outstanding disputes with government bodies over company-owned land, most notably with Alexandria Governorate, following a decision issued by the Prime Minister.
In an official statement, the company revealed that the ministerial committee responsible for settling investment disputes had issued a ruling obliging Alexandria Governorate to finalise a sale contract for a plot of land measuring approximately 6,000 square metres, which the company has leased since November 1970. The decision follows an earlier appellate court ruling that confirmed the company's right to own the land at the price set at the time of allocation, in accordance with the terms of the original lease agreement.
Regarding the remaining disputed plots, the company noted that proceedings are still ongoing. These include a plot of 16,800 square metres leased since 1970, and another plot of 20,500 square metres acquired by the company since 1967.
The company expects the Cabinet to issue a decision soon obliging Alexandria Governorate to sign final contracts for these plots, particularly following a recent final court ruling confirming the company's ownership rights. The necessary legal procedures to secure the official decision are currently being finalised.
Extracted Oils Company, established in April 1959, is one of the oldest subsidiaries of the Holding Company for Food Industries. Headquartered in Alexandria, the company's operations are concentrated in the food and beverage sector, specifically in vegetable oils and canned foods. Its ownership is distributed among the Holding Company for Food Industries (30.8%), Al Yasmin Holding Company (22.6%), investor Mostafa Amin Yehia (9%) and Hisham Hosny Hammouda (8%).
These developments form part of broader state efforts to resolve investment disputes and improve the business climate, particularly in the food industries sector, alongside a comprehensive plan to modernise and develop subsidiary companies with a view to raising their production efficiency and maximising the use of their assets.
