The United States has authorised FGV Holdings Bhd to resume exporting palm oil and its derivatives to the US market from 15 January 2026, following an amendment to its Withhold Release Order (WRO).

In a statement issued on Friday, FGV said the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency had confirmed that products from the company, its subsidiaries and its joint ventures are now permitted entry into the US commercial market, provided they comply with all applicable US laws and regulations.

The statement read: "FGV would like to express its appreciation to US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) for its guidance and responsiveness in amending the Withhold Release Order, and for recognising the group's efforts to address and improve its labour practices."

It added: "The group also extends its gratitude to the Malaysian government and all stakeholders for their continued support and understanding throughout this process."

The group noted that the amendment follows sustained and comprehensive efforts by FGV to strengthen its labour practices in line with national regulations and international standards.

It added: "These efforts included implementing a rigorous action plan to ensure FGV's operations are free from any indicators of forced labour and child labour, in accordance with International Labour Organization (ILO) standards."

Key measures undertaken by FGV included strengthening recruitment procedures to align with ethical and responsible recruitment principles and standards, implementing a programme to reimburse recruitment fees, and working with the National Union of Plantation Workers (NUPW) to uphold workers' rights to freedom of association and union membership.

FGV Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Fakhrul Anwar Osman said the amendment of the WRO marks a milestone for the group, reflecting the progress made through consistently doing things the right and ethical way.

He said: "Through continuous reforms across our operations, we have strengthened labour practices, protected human rights, and embedded sustainability into every aspect of our business."

He concluded: "This outcome demonstrates that our commitment to responsible and ethical practices enables FGV to meet international standards and maintain access to key markets such as the United States."
