The EU imported 6.46 million tonnes of soybeans between July and December 2025, down 12% compared with the same period last year.
That is according to analysts at Spike Brokers.
The analysts said: "The market remains concentrated, with the United States accounting for 47.3% and Brazil for 33%. Meanwhile, Ukraine's share fell from 11.1% to 9.5% due to logistical risks and competition from American and Brazilian soybeans."
At the same time, EU imports of soybean meal fell to 9.32 million tonnes, down 10% year on year, with Brazil at 52.7% and Argentina at 35.5% as the main suppliers. Ukraine's share, however, rose from 3.1% to 4.4%, or 410,000 tonnes, pointing to the strengthening position of Ukrainian processing companies.
Experts noted: "Soybean oil imports held steady at 307,700 tonnes, but the structure of these imports changed significantly: Ukraine became the largest supplier, with export volumes rising from 21,200 tonnes to 148,700 tonnes and its market share climbing from 17.9% to 48.3%, the most notable shift in the entire sector."
Soybean prices have remained stable. The spot CPT-port index stood at $421 excluding VAT, down $1, while the processing index stood at $451 including VAT, down $6.
