
Tunisia achieved a new milestone this week, taking first place in the fourth edition of the Scandinavian International Olive Oil Competition (SIOOC), outperforming leading producing countries such as Turkey, Greece and Italy.
The competition was organised by the Swedish-based Group of International Olive Oil Competitions (GIOOC), which specialises in organising extra virgin olive oil contests, and was held online from 27 to 29 June 2025.

This competition marks the final stop of 2025 in the series of international olive oil competitions, according to a statement issued by the Swedish group on Friday.
This year's edition saw the participation of around 100 olive oil samples, submitted by 80 producers from 14 countries, namely: Tunisia, Algeria, Libya, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Oman, Turkey, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Croatia and Switzerland.
The judging panel comprised eight experts from Tunisia and Greece, with extensive experience in tasting and evaluating extra virgin olive oils.
According to the organisers, these results reflect the global standing that Tunisian olive oil has come to enjoy, thanks to inherited expertise and producers' commitment to applying the highest international quality standards.
Through these competitions, the Swedish group aims to promote the world's best extra virgin olive oils and support producers across different continents in strengthening their international competitiveness.
