
Palm oil trader David Ng said crude palm oil futures on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives are expected to trade within a narrow range next week, citing a lack of fresh market catalysts.
Ng told Bernama that prices are likely to range between 4,300 and 4,480 ringgit per tonne.
Meanwhile, Anilkumar Bagani, head of commodity research at Mumbai-based Sunvin Group, said the market is now awaiting the Malaysian Palm Oil Association's August production estimates.
He estimated that Malaysian palm oil stocks at the end of August stood at 2.214 million tonnes, up 4.76 percent from 2.113 million tonnes in July, as production rose 1 percent to 1.831 million tonnes.
On a weekly basis, the September 2025 contract rose 63 ringgit to 4,371 ringgit per tonne, while the October 2025 contract added 65 ringgit to reach 4,412 ringgit per tonne.
The November 2025 contract improved by 68 ringgit to 4,448 ringgit per tonne, and the December 2025 contract gained 67 ringgit to 4,475 ringgit, while the January 2026 and February 2026 contracts each rose 65 ringgit to 4,490 ringgit and 4,482 ringgit, respectively.
Weekly trading volume fell to 141,151 lots from 294,986 lots the previous week, while open interest edged down slightly to 252,812 contracts from 253,380 contracts.
The physical price of crude palm oil for September, south delivery, added 30 ringgit to reach 4,400 ringgit.
The market was closed on Friday (5 September) for the Prophet's Birthday holiday and will resume trading on Monday (8 September).
