
Malaysia's palm oil exports fell by 12.94% in January 2025, dropping to 1.17 million tonnes compared with 1.34 million tonnes in December 2024, according to a report from the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB).
In its January 2025 industry performance report, MPOB said crude palm oil (CPO) production during the month declined by 16.8%, down 249,864 tonnes, to reach 1.24 million tonnes compared with 1.49 million tonnes the previous month.
On stocks, the board reported that CPO inventories fell by 11.78% to 788,946 tonnes, compared with 894,330 tonnes in December.
MPOB also pointed to a sharp decline in palm kernel oil exports, down 40.85% to 56,737 tonnes in January compared with 95,918 tonnes in December.
On the other hand, biodiesel exports surged by 121.89% to reach 33,795 tonnes in January, up from 15,231 tonnes the previous month, while exports of oleochemicals rose by 4.08% to 232,567 tonnes compared with 223,447 tonnes in December.
The board also reported no CPO imports during January, while palm kernel oil imports fell by 72.04% to 5,673 tonnes, compared with 20,291 tonnes the previous month.
