Egypt's Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, Dr Sherif Farouk, has announced an agreement with the Hyper One retail chain to offer discounted loose cooking oil produced by the Holding Company for Food Industries.
The move forms part of the ministry's efforts to ease the financial burden on Egyptian households and ensure basic commodities are available at affordable prices. The announcement was made in the presence of Dr Alaa Nagy, Chief Executive Officer of the Holding Company for Food Industries, and Ahmed Kamal, the minister's assistant and official spokesman.
During the meeting, Dr Sherif Farouk stressed the importance of cooperation with the private sector to regulate markets and ensure commodities are sold at fair prices.
Under the agreement, "Zamzam" oil (produced by the Holding Company) and "Top Value" oil will be sold at 46.60 Egyptian pounds for a 700ml bottle of blended oil. Sales at the reduced prices began today, Sunday 9 November 2025, at Hyper One's four branches (Sheikh Zayed, 10th of Ramadan, Suez and Alexandria), as well as at consumer cooperative outlets.
For his part, a representative of the Hyper One chain underlined the importance of continued cooperation with the ministry and the Holding Company to offer discounted oils, alongside the ongoing price-reduction initiative.
Dr Alaa Nagy noted the Holding Company's commitment to securing and supplying the quantities of loose oil needed for distribution at Hyper One outlets as well as consumer cooperatives.
