The Indonesian Palm Oil Producers Association said on Tuesday that Indonesia's palm oil industry maintained strong growth through August 2025, with both production and export value rising steadily.
Cumulative output of crude palm oil and palm kernel oil reached 39.04 million tonnes by August, up 13.08 percent year-on-year, according to the association's secretary-general, Hadi Sugeng.
He said the growth was driven by higher plantation productivity, strong demand for biodiesel, and robust export performance.
Domestic consumption rose to 2.1 million tonnes in August, driven mainly by the energy sector, with biodiesel consumption up 5.71 percent to 1.11 million tonnes.
While palm oil exports in August fell 1.81 percent from July to 3.47 million tonnes, export value rose 3.5 percent to US$3.82 billion, supported by higher international prices, which averaged US$1,204 per tonne.
Cumulative palm oil export value from January to August reached US$24.78 billion, up nearly 43 percent year-on-year.
The association forecast that the palm oil industry would continue to post steady growth through the end of 2025, with export value potentially exceeding US$30 billion if global prices remain elevated.
