Indonesia plans to raise its crude palm oil production to 60 million tonnes a year by 2030, up from 48.2 million tonnes in 2024, in line with rising demand, according to Eddy Abdurrachman, CEO of the Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP), speaking on Wednesday.
He noted that demand for crude palm oil continues to grow across the food, biofuel and oleochemical industries, in addition to exports.
He told local media: "The target of producing 60 million tonnes a year by 2030 could cover the needs of consumption, biofuel and oleochemicals."
To achieve this goal, Abdurrachman explained that the agency has implemented programmes to strengthen human resource capabilities, including scholarships and technical training, initiatives expected to enhance knowledge, skills, professionalism, independence and competitiveness.
He added that the government has also launched a palm replanting programme aimed at improving palm oil productivity.
