Sesame seed and oil prices are trending higher as India's peak festival season drives robust demand against a backdrop of limited seed availability. Firm domestic oil quotations and steady accumulation by stockists are underpinning a bullish tone, even as the broader vegetable oil complex experiences volatility.

Across India's edible and non-edible sectors, sesame oil has followed the upward trajectory of mustard and cottonseed oils, posting weekly gains fueled by pre-festival restocking. Industrial food demand remains resilient, while sellers are exhibiting less urgency as they monitor the incoming kharif crop and global vegetable oil benchmarks. Consequently, export-oriented prices in New Delhi and North Africa are holding a gentle upward trend, with international buyers prioritizing quality and shipment reliability over price concessions.

FOB New Delhi quotations in EUR reflect this gradual upward bias. Hulled, EU-grade sesame (99.95% purity) is indicated at EUR 1.59, while premium hulled material (99.97–99.98% purity) is quoted between EUR 1.61 and 1.63. Regular black sesame (99.90% purity) stands at EUR 1.86, with semi Z black and super Z black grades reaching EUR 1.94 and EUR 2.01 respectively. Natural white sesame (99.95% purity) is priced near EUR 1.35, while organic natural sortex product is indicated at EUR 1.80 FOB.

In Egyptian markets, trends are mixed: natural golden sesame from Cairo is quoted at EUR 1.90, slightly softer than earlier levels, while 99% purity natural material has firmed to EUR 1.45 FOB. Domestic Indian supply remains tight, with wholesalers reporting constrained volumes. This scarcity is amplifying the seasonal uplift typical of the Diwali window, as stockists opt to build positions rather than liquidate ahead of new crop arrivals.

From a fundamental perspective, the 2026 monsoon concluded below normal, and El Niño-linked rainfall deficits have raised concerns regarding kharif oilseed yields. Although sesame acreage has reportedly expanded, market participants are closely watching harvest quality and oil content. Short-term agrometeorological outlooks suggest drier conditions that favor harvest operations, yet yield variability remains a risk factor. With festival demand in full swing, the sesame complex is biased toward the upside through late October, though the pace of new crop arrivals will dictate the market direction in November.
