Alaa Nagy, head of the Holding Company for Food Industries in Egypt, announced the construction of three specialised oil-processing complexes at strategic locations across the country, including Borg El Arab, Sadat City and Sohag governorate.
Speaking at a press conference held on Saturday, Nagy explained that the projects are being carried out with private sector participation, in line with directives from Prime Minister Dr Mostafa Madbouly, and take geographic distribution into account to ensure comprehensive coverage across the country.
He noted that work is currently underway to rehabilitate and upgrade the oil terminal in the El-Max area, which was originally established in 1984. The first phase involves modernising the facility using advanced technology, while the second phase focuses on expanding its storage capacity to meet rising consumption levels and secure a strategic reserve of oils.
Nagy affirmed that these projects form part of the Ministry of Supply's plan to support domestic industry and revive well-established Egyptian brands that have long enjoyed strong consumer trust and popularity.
