
Crude palm oil futures on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives are expected to trade within a limited range next week amid thin activity due to the shortened trading week, according to one dealer.
Jim Teh, senior palm oil trader at Interband Group of Companies, said crude palm oil futures are likely to trade between 3,900 and 4,000 ringgit per tonne.
Meanwhile, David Ng, a palm oil trader, said the market is expected to move within a narrow range as participants assess potential new catalysts that could influence the next market direction. He added: "We expect prices to move between 4,350 and 4,580 ringgit per tonne next week."
On a weekly basis, the September 2025 contract rose 12 ringgit to 4,383 ringgit per tonne, while the October 2025 contract fell 4 ringgit to 4,408 ringgit per tonne.
The November 2025 contract dropped 3 ringgit to 4,445 ringgit per tonne, the December 2025 contract declined 5 ringgit to 4,470 ringgit, the January 2026 contract fell 8 ringgit to 4,482 ringgit, and the February 2026 contract slipped 11 ringgit to 4,471 ringgit per tonne.
Weekly trading volume surged to 527,663 lots from 141,151 lots the previous week, while open interest rose to 263,070 contracts from 252,812 previously.
The physical price of crude palm oil for September, south delivery, rose 20 ringgit to 4,420 ringgit per tonne.
