Data from Brazil's grain exporters association (Anec) released on Wednesday showed that Brazilian soybean exports are expected to reach 102.2 million tonnes by the end of October, surpassing the full-year volumes for both 2024 and 2023, reflecting the absence of American competitors that usually serve Chinese importers.

The previous record for soybean shipments from Brazil, the world's largest producer and exporter, was set in 2023 at 101.3 million tonnes, according to Anec figures.

In addition to harvesting a record soybean crop of more than 170 million tonnes in 2025, Brazilian farmers are benefiting from strong demand from China, which is locked in a tariff war with the United States.

"China continues to be the main destination and driver of Brazilian soybean shipments," Anec said.

Anec data showed China imported 6.5 million tonnes from Brazil in September, accounting for 93% of total exports, maintaining a historically high share of the South American country's total shipment volumes.

Relying heavily on Brazil to secure its supplies, China accounted for 79.9% of total Brazilian soybean exports, compared with 74% between 2021 and 2024. Anec said China's share in 2024 stood at 76%.

The full-year forecast was issued in the first monthly shipment report for October, in which Anec projects shipments of 7.12 million tonnes, an increase of nearly 2.7 million tonnes over the same month last year.

For the current calendar year, Anec expects Brazil to export 110 million tonnes of soybeans. "An additional 8 million tonnes are expected to be shipped between November and December, confirming the annual estimate of 110 million tonnes," the association said.

Corn shipments are expected to reach 6 million tonnes this month, an increase of about 380,000 tonnes over the volume recorded in the same month last year.

For the year to the end of October, corn exports are estimated at around 30 million tonnes, placing Brazil second among the world's largest grain exporters, behind the United States.
