Brazil is significantly expanding its soybean processing capacity to meet growing demand for biodiesel. This rapid growth, which is nearly double the rate seen over the previous three years, is being driven largely by Brazil's \"Fuel of the Future\" law, which mandates an increase in the vegetable oil content of biodiesel from 14% to 17% by 2027. This policy shift is expected to push demand for soybean oil up by 34%, with biodiesel consumption forecast to rise from 9.3 billion litres in 2024 to 12.3 billion litres in 2027. Despite this sharp increase in domestic demand, Brazilian soybean oil exports are expected to remain steady at around 1 million tonnes a year, below the five-year average of 1.8 million tonnes.
