Location: SD Guthrie International South Africa Refinery
Contract: Fixed-term, 3 months
Job Description:
- Processing: Monitor and control the refining process from the control room; minimise losses (leaks, spillages, double handling, reprocessing, waste); assist with fault finding.
- Receiving: Receive oils/fats from road tankers and UL transfers; take oil samples and run or forward analyses; receive hydrogen, nitrogen and caustic soda.
- Tank Park: Receive supplier oils, conduct stock takes, drain AO & SS tanks and monitor stock levels.
- Neutralizing / Bleaching: Transfer oils/fats, operate neutralizing and bleaching, and filter bleached oils into buffer tanks/ITF.
- Hydrogenation: Operate the hydrogenation process, filter hydrogenated oil into H tanks, recover spent catalyst and take samples.
- Interesterification: Operate the interesterification process and filter oils into buffer tanks/ITF.
- Winterising: Operate the winterising process and filter oil into W tanks.
- Deodorising: Operate deodorising (Lurgi and Rosedowns units) and transfer deodorised oil to ROS tanks.
- Blending: Operate post-deodoriser blending and add minor ingredients as required.
- Transfers/Dispatches: Load road tankers and dispatch materials to third parties.
- Refined Oil Storage: Monitor refined oil stocks (quality, temperature, age) and take samples.
- Chemicals make-up: Debag dry chemicals and make up chemical solutions.
- General: Operate refining with RS Batch & SCADA, assist with monthly stock takes, and change leaves for winterising and TSBs.
- Material handling / first-line maintenance: Forklift, pallet jack or hoist; report problems to artisans; clean filters and change GAF bags.
- Data capturing / Lean Six Sigma: Update log sheets, take part in Six Sigma, One Point Lessons and Kaizens, and complete shift hand-over reports.
- Compliance: Applicable legislation (e.g. POPIA, LRA & BCEA).
