For years, the coconut business community in Vietnam's Ben Tre province has demonstrated robust growth, integrating into global value chains across more than 80 countries. These enterprises have solidified their pivotal role in economic development by adopting strategies that leverage raw material regions as a foundation, technology as a catalyst, and market demand as the primary metric for investment efficiency. The dynamism of these entrepreneurs is creating a new momentum for the province's coconut industry.
Luong Quoi Coconut Processing Co., Ltd. exemplifies this trajectory. Starting as a small-scale facility for crude coconut oil and desiccated coconut, the company has evolved over 30 years into a major player with diverse product lines—including coconut water, milk, and oil—serving the beverage, food, and cosmetic sectors. With revenues exceeding 4 trillion VND and export turnover surpassing $130 million across 50 countries, the firm provides stable employment for nearly 2,000 permanent workers.
Cu Van Thanh, Chairman and General Director of Luong Quoi, noted that the company began investing in organic coconut models 15 years ago. Since 2015, their products have met USDA, EU, and JAS organic standards. From an initial 400 hectares, the organic raw material area has expanded to 15,000 hectares. Looking ahead, the company plans to invest approximately 1.2 trillion VND between 2025 and 2030, targeting annual revenue of $300 million and doubling its organic area to 30,000 hectares through smart warehouse systems and modernized management.
Similarly, Ben Tre Import-Export Joint Stock Corporation (Betrimex) was a pioneer in adopting Swedish Tetra Pak technology for exported canned coconut water. Hoang Ngoc Minh, Director of the Betrimex factory, stated that their 'Cocoxim' brand has held the top position in Vietnam for over a decade, with exports accounting for 95% of total output. Their distribution network and international organic certifications have opened doors to high-standard markets in the US, Europe, and Asia.
Asia Coconut Processing JSC (ACP) is also reporting significant growth, with revenues expected to rise by 20-30% and profits projected to triple. In the first eight months of 2026, ACP's export turnover reached $44 million, with the US market consuming 50% of production. The company is currently investing in the second phase of its processing plant, set to be operational by early 2027, which will double its processing and export capacity.
With over 150 companies active in the sector, the coconut industry is a cornerstone of the regional economy. Tran Van Duc, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Coconut Association, highlighted that export turnover reached $614 million in 2025, accounting for 40-50% of the province's total exports. Beyond financial figures, the industry sustains livelihoods for tens of thousands of households and stimulates auxiliary sectors such as logistics, packaging, and mechanical engineering, fostering a dynamic and sustainable economic ecosystem.
