European traders reported on Monday that the Turkish Grain Board (TMO) has issued an international tender for the purchase and import of approximately 18,000 tons of crude sunflower oil. The move is part of the government's ongoing efforts to secure vegetable oil supplies from foreign markets and bolster national reserves.
According to market sources, the deadline for submitting price bids has been set for November 2. The delivery schedule for the contracted volumes is slated to take place between November 11 and December 11 of this year.
The shipments are expected to be delivered to major Turkish ports, including Mersin, Iskenderun, and Tekirdag. Notably, the tender terms specify that offers can be made for imported sunflower oil already stored in Turkish bonded warehouses. However, supplies produced domestically are excluded from participating in this specific procurement round.
This tender highlights Turkey's strategic approach to managing its edible oil requirements through imports, as market participants closely monitor global supply chains and demand shifts for vegetable oils.
