Jim Teh, senior palm oil trader at Interband Group of Companies, said the crude palm oil (CPO) futures market is expected to trade lower next week on profit-taking.
He said the rise in CPO stocks in November 2025, as reported by the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) this week, would also weigh on market sentiment.
According to the Board, Malaysia's CPO stocks rose 17.56% to 1.74 million tonnes last month, up from 1.47 million tonnes in October.
Teh told Bernama that "real demand will come from India, Pakistan, the European Union, the Middle East and the United States", adding that CPO prices are expected to trade between 3,800 and 4,000 ringgit next week.
Palm oil trader David Ng meanwhile expects the CPO futures market to trade with a downward bias amid continued concerns over rising stock levels in the country. He forecast prices to range between 3,950 and 4,100 ringgit next week.
Weekly market performance, Friday to Friday:
Weekly trading volume jumped to 436,257 lots, compared with 293,576 lots the previous week, while open interest rose to 263,277 contracts from 262,698 contracts the week before.
The physical CPO price for southern-region December delivery fell 120 ringgit to 4,030 ringgit a tonne.
