
Algerian Industry Minister Sifi Ghrieb announced during a visit to Jijel province that the Kotama Agri-Food plant, specialized in oilseed crushing and oil extraction and located in Bazoul, Taher municipality, will be handed over in the coming weeks.
The minister said work on the project has reached its final stages and that only final finishing touches remain, adding that the plant will be ready for operation soon.
He noted that the project has received special attention from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune because of its importance in reducing reliance on imported oils.
The minister said the plant is an example of the state’s commitment to restarting projects that had previously stalled because of corruption cases. He added that the engineers and project managers are graduates of Algerian universities and have implemented the project to a high standard.
During his tour of the plant’s units, the minister stressed the need to comply with the highest safety standards and ensure strong control of the technology and modern systems used inside the facility.
Kotama Agri-Food is considered one of Algeria’s largest industrial projects in the vegetable oils sector. It includes:
The plant is expected to cover around 40% of the domestic market’s needs for crude vegetable oils and 60% of animal feed requirements, making it an important project for strengthening food security in Algeria.
The project belongs to Madar Holding, which manages major industrial projects as part of the state’s plan to diversify the national economy.
