Dr. Sherif Farouk said discounts on free-market oils will continue, while a new 1.5-liter oil pack will be introduced within the subsidized commodity system at a price of EGP 56 to expand product choices for citizens.

As part of the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade’s efforts to provide more commodity alternatives for ration card holders and ease the burden on Egyptian households, Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, directed Dr. Alaa Nagy, CEO of the Holding Company for Food Industries, to launch a new 1.5-liter blended oil pack within the subsidized commodity system at EGP 56, starting December 1, 2025.

This decision comes in addition to the continued availability of the current 700 ml pack at EGP 27 and the 800 ml pack at EGP 30, offering a range of sizes and prices that meet the needs of different consumer segments.

Farouk said the step comes in light of regular market monitoring and the ministry’s commitment to ensuring the availability of basic commodities for citizens at high quality and fair prices, strengthening the role of the subsidy system in achieving balance and controlling markets.

The minister explained that the new pack will be made gradually available in all ration outlets across Egypt starting December 1, 2025.

He confirmed that the ministry is continuing its efforts to develop the subsidy system and ensure regular distribution of basic commodities, achieving greater efficiency and sustainability in serving citizens.

Farouk also confirmed the continuation of the approved discounts on free-market oils of different types, including blended, sunflower, and corn oils, inside consumer complex branches affiliated with the Holding Company for Food Industries.

This comes as part of the ministry’s efforts to reduce the cost-of-living burden on citizens and ensure the availability of basic commodities at suitable prices.

Farouk said consumer complexes continue to offer free-market oils at prices below comparable products in the open market, while fully complying with quality standards and local production requirements, in line with the state’s policy to control markets and strengthen food security for Egyptian citizens.
