Indonesia consumed 3.9 million kilolitres of palm oil-based biodiesel from the start of the year to 13 April under its mandatory blending programme, an energy ministry official said. The figures come as preparations continue to raise the blending rate further in the period ahead.
Indonesia, the world's largest palm oil exporter, plans to raise the mandatory palm-based blend in biodiesel to 50% from 1 July, up from the current 40%. The move is likely to reduce global export supplies of the vegetable oil, which has helped support the rise in palm oil futures, alongside strength in competing edible oil prices.
