The Indonesian Palm Oil Producers Association (GAPKI) is preparing to host the 2026 Indonesian Palm Oil Conference (IPOC), aiming to generate strategic insights and policy recommendations to fortify the national palm oil industry against global trade challenges, geopolitical shifts, and rising food and energy demands.
Scheduled for November 11-13, 2026, at the Bali International Convention Center (BICC) in Nusa Dua, the 22nd edition of the conference will focus on the theme 'Palm Oil in a Fragmented World: Ensuring Food and Energy Security and Economic Resilience.' As the world's leading producer of vegetable oils, Indonesia remains a cornerstone in maintaining global supply stability.
Domestically, palm oil is vital for food security and the processed food industry, while also underpinning the national biodiesel program to enhance energy independence. Furthermore, the sector is a primary contributor to non-oil and gas exports, driving economic growth in plantation regions. However, the industry faces significant hurdles, ranging from domestic environmental issues like forest fires (karhutla) in Sumatra and Kalimantan to international trade pressures, including US tariff policies that impact export competitiveness.
Eddy Martono, Chairman of GAPKI, emphasized that IPOC 2026 will serve as a critical forum for discussing strategies to navigate the shifting global trade landscape. He noted that in an increasingly fragmented economic and geopolitical environment, the Indonesian palm oil industry must remain robust and act as a solution for food and energy security both at home and abroad.
Suryanto Bun, Chairman of the IPOC 2026 Organizing Committee, stated that the conference will feature government officials, academics, and industry analysts. Key speakers include Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, who will discuss the industry's role in economic resilience, and Minister of National Development Planning Rachmat Pambudy, who will outline strategies for food and energy security through palm oil commodities.
The conference will be structured into four main sessions covering economic resilience, food and energy transition, trade and geopolitics, and market trends. Participants can expect a comprehensive overview of government policy directions and price outlooks for 2027, providing essential data for formulating future business strategies.
