Jim Teh, chief palm oil trader at Interband Group of Companies, said crude palm oil futures are expected to trade lower next week amid profit-taking following recent gains.
Teh noted that next week will be a shortened trading week, as most international palm oil traders will be on holiday for Christmas and New Year celebrations.
He told Bernama: "We expect prices to trade between 3,800 and 3,900 ringgit per tonne next week, a level that should attract genuine buyers, particularly from China, India, Pakistan, the European Union, Middle Eastern countries and the United States."
Bursa Malaysia and its subsidiaries were closed on 25 December for the Christmas holiday and resumed operations on 26 December.
On a week-on-week basis, Friday to Friday, the January 2026 contract rose 156 ringgit to 4,060 ringgit per tonne, the February 2026 contract gained 177 ringgit to 4,082 ringgit per tonne, and the March 2026 contract climbed 178 ringgit to 4,089 ringgit per tonne.
