Bangchak Group is significantly broadening its efforts to manage used cooking oil (UCO) for the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), extending its collaboration with organizations and schools across Thailand. Through its 'Fry to Fly' and 'No Refry' initiatives, the Group is systematically developing a collection infrastructure that simultaneously promotes public health awareness, contributes to environmental protection, supports the circular economy model, and advances Thailand's national goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
On August 20, a crucial step in this expansion was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between BSGF Company Limited (BSGF) and Bangkok Fuel Pipeline and Logistics Company Limited (BFPL), both affiliates of Bangchak Group, and the Sammacheep Foundation. This partnership aims to mitigate environmental impacts and safeguard consumer health by encouraging businesses and network partners to properly and efficiently manage their used cooking oil through the 'No Refry' and 'Fry to Fly' programs. The collected oil will then be sold to BSGF for conversion into SAF. The MOU was formally signed by Mrs. Kandamas Kritayanukul, Director of BSGF; Mr. Atit Chinanthanasiri, General Director of BFPL; and Mr. Mongkol Leelatham, Executive Chairman of the Sammacheep Foundation. Mr. Suraporn Petchdee, General Manager of BSGF, and Mr. Kriengkrai Sinbuathong, Director of the Sammacheep Foundation, were present as witnesses at the Bangchak Phra Khanong Refinery.
Further bolstering these initiatives, the Bai Mai Pun Suk Foundation, established by Bangchak Group, hosted a 'Fry to Fly Station' workshop. This event brought together teachers and students from four participating schools in Bangkok and its surrounding provinces. The workshop curriculum covered vital topics such as global warming, the principles of the circular economy, efficient resource utilization, effective waste separation, guidelines for healthy cooking oil consumption, and practical management of 'Fry to Fly' collection stations within schools. Mrs. Gloyta Nathalang, Senior Executive Vice President for Sustainability Management and Corporate Communications at Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited, and a board member of the Bai Mai Pun Suk Foundation, extended a welcome to all participants at M Tower, Bangchak Corporation's headquarters.
Since its inception in late 2024, the 'Fry to Fly Station' network has rapidly grown, now encompassing over 50 educational institutions across 12 provinces. To date, this extensive network has successfully collected more than 10 tons of used cooking oil, which has already been directed towards SAF production. Bangchak Group plans to continue expanding these vital partnerships nationwide, further solidifying its commitment to sustainable practices.
