May God bless some Arab countries with the blessing of olive cultivation and olive oil production, especially North African countries. We look at the production and consumption of olive oil in the Arab countries and learn about the exports and imports of olive oil in the Arab countries.
The total consumption of olive oil by the Arab countries was 457 thousand tons in 2023. Morocco is the top consumer of olive oil in the Arab countries. Its consumption alone is close to one third of the consumption of the Arab countries. It and its wife, Syria and Algeria, account for about 70% of the consumption of olive oil in the Arab countries.
The total production of olive oil by the Arab countries was 618 thousand tons in 2023. Tunisia topped the list as the largest producer of olive oil in the Arab world with a 34% share of production, followed by Syria and Morocco.
Arab countries' imports of olive oil amounted to 75 thousand tons in 2023. Saudi Arabia topped the list as its largest importer, followed by the United Arab Emirates and Libya.
Arab countries' total exports of olive oil amounted to 293 thousand tons in 2023. Tunisia, the largest producer of olive oil, topped exports with an export share alone of 71% of the total exports of the Arab countries. It is followed by Syria and Morocco.
