
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has revised its forecasts for Ukraine's sunflower oil production and exports in the 2025/2026 marketing year, according to data from its March report.
Under the updated estimates, Ukraine's sunflower oil production is expected to reach 4.73 million tonnes, up 0.2 million tonnes from last month's forecast. Sunflower oil export forecasts were also raised to 4.38 million tonnes, an increase of 0.2 million tonnes from February's projections. Meal production is expected to total 4.543 million tonnes (+0.2 million tonnes), while exports are estimated at 2.9 million tonnes (+0.2 million tonnes).
At the same time, experts raised their estimates for Ukraine's sunflower seed harvest by 0.5 million tonnes, to 11 million tonnes.
In addition, USDA experts expect Ukraine's rapeseed oil exports to reach 2.45 million tonnes, down 0.2 million tonnes compared with February's estimates, and sunflower oil exports to reach 2.3 million tonnes, down 0.4 million tonnes.
Overall, the global sunflower seed harvest for the 2025/2026 marketing year is estimated at around 54.12 million tonnes, more than 2 million tonnes above previous forecasts, with sunflower oil production estimated at 20.75 million tonnes (+0.7 million tonnes) and sunflower meal at 21.88 million tonnes (+0.8 million tonnes).
