Egypt's Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade, through the Holding Company for Food Industries, has stepped up the distribution of ample cooking oil supplies across all consumer complex branches and the "Carry On" outlet at the College for Girls. The products on offer include several varieties, including blended, sunflower, corn and cottonseed oils, in sizes ranging from 680ml to 2.7 litres.
The move aims to meet citizens' needs at prices up to 20% below the local market. The ministry noted that a 700ml bottle of blended oil is priced at 46.60 Egyptian pounds, a uniform rate applied across all consumer complexes and ministry-affiliated company products.
Strategic reserves
Dr Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, affirmed that the country's strategic reserves of basic commodities remain secure and sufficient for extended periods, noting that oil stocks are enough to last 5.5 months, while sugar reserves cover the country's needs for 14 months.
The minister explained that all consumer complexes offer various types of oil at competitive prices, stressing the ministry's commitment to strengthening partnerships with the private sector to ensure market stability and the availability of high-quality products at reasonable prices for citizens.
