Egypt Cuts Cooking Oil Prices by Up to 15%, Unveils New Price List

Dr Sherif Farouk, Egypt's Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, held an expanded meeting with representatives of the country's leading oil producers to discuss ways to combat commercial fraud and ensure that products meeting official standards reach consumers, in line with the government's directive to provide citizens with safe, high-quality food commodities.

During the meeting, the companies pledged to cooperate with the ministry and launch initiatives to cut cooking oil prices, with reductions on some products exceeding 15%. The new prices are to take effect immediately in the market, in support of citizens and to ease living costs.

Key Price Cuts Announced:

• Trust for Trade and Industry: 1-litre blended oil bottle now priced at EGP 64, down from EGP 70, while the 700ml bottle is priced at EGP 47, down from EGP 65.
• Alpha Misr for Industrial Investment and Egyptian Oil Extraction Company: 1-litre blended oil priced at EGP 63, down from EGP 76, and the 700ml size at EGP 48, down from EGP 60.
• Alexandria Oil Extraction Company: 1-litre blended oil priced at EGP 65.
• Savola Egypt and Arma: 1-litre blended oil priced at EGP 68, down from EGP 77, and the 700ml size at EGP 50, down from EGP 57.
• Arma (Crystal Sunflower Oil): 1-litre bottle priced at EGP 90, down from EGP 103, and the 700ml size at EGP 65, down from EGP 73.

The Supply Minister stressed that this step reflects close cooperation between the government and the private sector to achieve market balance and ensure the availability of strategic commodities at suitable quality and affordable prices for citizens. He also emphasised that regulatory campaigns would continue to be intensified to address any violations or illegal practices.
