Ukraine recorded a sharp increase in rapeseed oil export revenues during the first quarter of 2026, with income rising more than 30-fold compared with the same period last year, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Economy.

The ministry said the growth reflects policies encouraging domestic processing, which reduced exports of raw materials and increased the share of value-added processed products. In the soybean sector, processed products such as meal and oil declined less sharply than raw beans.

The report said changes were particularly clear in the rapeseed sector, where rapeseed oil exports rose more than 30 times compared with the first quarter of the previous year.

Overall, Ukraine exported around 15.5 million tonnes of agricultural products between January and March, worth US$6.3 billion, representing 62% of the country’s total exports. Export volumes remained relatively stable, rising 1.2% year-on-year, while revenues increased 8.3%, or US$482 million.

Exports remained concentrated in key products including corn, sunflower oil and wheat. Corn recorded growth in both volume and value, while wheat exports declined due to a strong harvest in the European Union.

The main export markets remained stable, with the European Union accounting for 49% of exports, the Middle East and North Africa for 20%, and Turkey for 12%. Turkey strengthened its position by increasing imports of Ukrainian agricultural products by US$242 million.
