
Egypt's Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawi and Civil Aviation Minister Dr Sameh El-Hefny discussed ways to advance a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) project currently under implementation through the Egyptian Petrochemicals Holding Company.
During the meeting held at the Petroleum Ministry's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, the two ministers affirmed the state's strategy to position Egypt as a regional hub for this type of fuel. They agreed on the following:
On the operational front, Dr Tamer Heikal, head of the sustainable fuel project company, revealed that procedures were underway to sign a technology licensing agreement with global firm Honeywell UOP, secure raw materials from approved suppliers, and that the company had already succeeded in pre-arranging contracts to market part of its output internationally.
