Plantation firms are positioned to report significant growth in their third-quarter 2026 financial earnings, driven by a surge in upstream production and sustained strength in commodity prices. According to recent projections, the sector is benefiting from a favorable combination of operational efficiency and supportive market conditions.
Hong Leong Investment Bank (HLIB) Research has highlighted that core net earnings for upstream operations are expected to see a notable improvement. The bank forecasts that companies under its coverage will see production volumes expand between 6% and 35.6% on a quarter-on-quarter basis. This substantial increase in output provides a solid foundation for financial outperformance during the period.
Market prices for crude palm oil (CPO) remained stable and supportive throughout the quarter, further bolstering the revenue potential for major industry players. This pricing environment, coupled with increased volumes, has created a lucrative window for planters.
The analysis notes a performance gap between regions, with Malaysia-centric plantation companies leading the charge. Specific firms such as Hap Seng Plantations Holdings Bhd, Johor Plantations Group Bhd (JPG), and IOI Corp Bhd have demonstrated superior output expansion compared to their industry peers operating in Indonesia.
