Crude palm oil (CPO) futures are expected to trend lower next week, weighed down by rising stock levels.

Palm oil trader David Ng said weak demand from buyers is also likely to cap gains in the crude palm oil market. He told Bernama: "We expect prices to trade between 3,800 and 4,050 ringgit per tonne next week."

Weekly price movements

Comparing Friday to Friday, futures posted broad losses across the board. The benchmark spot month contract, December 2025, fell 88 ringgit to close at 3,892 ringgit per tonne, while the January 2026 contract dropped 99 ringgit to settle at 3,904 ringgit per tonne. The February 2026 contract slid 113 ringgit to 3,905 ringgit per tonne.

The downward trend extended to longer-dated contracts, with the March 2026 contract shedding around 117 ringgit to reach 3,911 ringgit per tonne, the April 2026 contract losing 119 ringgit to close at 3,916 ringgit per tonne, and the May 2026 contract giving up 120 ringgit to settle at 3,914 ringgit per tonne.

Trading volume and sentiment

Weekly volume fell to 408,456 lots, compared with 436,257 lots the previous week, while open interest rose to 276,507 contracts. In the physical market, the price of December crude palm oil in the southern region fell by 80 ringgit to settle at 3,950 ringgit per tonne.
