Palm oil prices extended gains for a fourth straight session to reach a two-week high, buoyed by stronger demand for the Malaysian commodity.

Exports from Malaysia, the world's second-largest palm oil producer, rose 1.6% month on month during the first 25 days of December, according to cargo surveyor Intertek Testing Services.

India was the biggest buyer, importing 279,550 tonnes, a 66% increase compared with the same period the previous month.

"Exports are certainly set to rise now as festival-related demand picks up," said Gnanasekar Thiagarajan, head of trading and hedging strategies at Kaleesuwari Intercontinental.

Demand ahead of the Lunar New Year and the Ramadan season in February 2026 is expected to push prices higher.

However, Thiagarajan added that a stronger ringgit could limit the gains.

The Malaysian ringgit is on track to hit its highest level in more than four and a half years after rising for a third consecutive day, making the tropical commodity less attractive to buyers overseas.
