The Ohio Soybean Council, through its research arm Airable Research Lab, has partnered with Warsaw Chemical to commercialize BIO-SLIDE 30, a soy-enhanced asphalt release agent containing a 30 percent biobased solution designed to reduce pavement buildup across the paving industry.
Jerry Bambauer, a farmer in Auglaize County and a member of the United Soybean Board, says the project reflects a broader effort to expand markets for U.S. soybeans. 'We're making new uses for our soy products,' he says. 'The lab is working very hard to increase the demand for soy and are trying to do right by the general public by producing a green product.'
Brandon Kern, deputy executive director of the Ohio Soybean Council, says BIO-SLIDE 30 demonstrates how soybean oil can replace petroleum-derived inputs in industrial applications. 'The opportunities for various consumer industrial products through this are endless,' he says. 'Anything that's made with petroleum-based oil can largely be done with soybean oil. Our experts at Airable are making it happen.'
Kern adds that the launch is part of a wider, industry-wide push to address practical challenges with new soybean-derived products, and that the Airable team is working to scale up commercial partnerships. The announcement was made during the 2026 Farm Science Review.
