The Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) said Malaysia's palm oil exports rose 25.6% to 1.39 million tonnes last month, up from 1.10 million tonnes in April.
In its latest industry performance report, the agency said the country produced 1.77 million tonnes of crude palm oil (CPO) in May, up 5.1% from 1.69 million tonnes the previous month.
Palm kernel production rose 2.8% to 420,658 tonnes from 409,097 tonnes in April.
The Malaysian Palm Oil Board said crude palm kernel oil production increased 19.2% to 210,512 tonnes from 176,644 tonnes previously, while palm kernel cake output grew 20.1% to 231,568 tonnes from 192,857 tonnes.
On stocks, the board said crude palm oil inventories rose 4.8% to 1.10 million tonnes in May compared with 1.05 million tonnes the previous month, while processed palm oil stocks grew 9.0% to 888,343 tonnes from 814,673 tonnes in April.
As a result, total palm oil stocks in May reached 1.99 million tonnes, up from 1.87 million tonnes the previous month.
On exports for the period, the Malaysian Palm Oil Board said palm kernel oil exports jumped 20.7% to 119,182 tonnes from 98,743 tonnes in April.
Palm kernel cake exports improved 37.3% to 193,328 tonnes from 140,833 tonnes previously, oleochemical exports rose 6.0% to 232,683 tonnes from 219,520 tonnes, and biodiesel exports surged 39.3% to 32,848 tonnes from 23,589 tonnes.
No crude palm oil imports were recorded in May, while palm kernel oil imports fell 43.5% to 8,074 tonnes from 14,287 tonnes in April.
