Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, met with Mohamed Tarid Sufian, Malaysia’s ambassador to Egypt.
The meeting reviewed what had been agreed between both sides regarding strengthening industrial cooperation, increasing Malaysian investment in the Egyptian market, and localizing several industries in Egypt.
The two sides also emphasized the importance of cooperation between Egypt and Malaysia in the industrial sector, in the presence of several officials from the ministries of industry and transport.
At the beginning of the meeting, the minister affirmed that Egypt is open to industrial cooperation with all countries and is implementing a comprehensive plan to develop this important sector.
This comes in line with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to turn Egypt into a regional industrial hub.
The two sides reviewed the latest developments in joint cooperation across several fields, including cooperation in palm oil production in Egypt.
This would be followed by the establishment of related factories, creating an important area of cooperation to meet domestic market needs before moving toward exports.
Both sides agreed to follow up on areas of joint cooperation to launch broader cooperation between Egypt and Malaysia.
