Jordan's Department of Statistics has issued a report tracking olive oil production volumes for the period from 10 October 2024 to 11 December 2024 of the current season. The report showed a 40.2% increase in olive oil production compared with the same period last season, with output since the start of the current season reaching around 34,030 tonnes, up from 24,270 tonnes in the first two months of the previous season.

In terms of geographic distribution, Irbid governorate topped the list of producing regions, with olive oil extracted from its presses totalling around 17,000 tonnes. It was followed by Ajloun governorate with output of 6,200 tonnes, and then Balqa governorate in third place with 3,200 tonnes. By contrast, Aqaba governorate recorded the lowest production level, with output not exceeding 200 tonnes.

The Department of Statistics is due to announce the final results for olive oil production once the pressing season ends at the start of next year.

It is worth noting that the Department of Statistics has conducted an annual survey of olive oil presses since 2008, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, through weekly visits during the pressing season. The survey aims to gather comprehensive data on production volumes, in line with the objectives of the National Agricultural Development Strategy. The cooperation between the two bodies seeks to strengthen efforts to unify national statistical figures and provide a clear picture to support food security, thereby contributing to informed future decision-making.
