The fifth Olive Harvest Festival will take place in Jebel Akhdar, Oman, from 23 to 27 September 2026, hosted at the Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort. The five-day event, set in the mountains near Nizwa, links olive cultivation with tastings, cooking sessions and guided visits.
The festival opens with an olive celebration on 23 September 2026 and continues through themed activities until its closing ceremony on 27 September 2026. The organiser's programme includes an olive-picking competition, an Olive and Olive Oil Souk, Mediterranean cuisine, cooking classes and tours of olive presses.
The souk and competition are scheduled in the resort courtyard, while a Spanish cooking class is listed for Diana's Point. Guided olive press tours and tastings led by Dr Ali Al Furqani will be held in the resort garden. The official programme also includes 'Olive Tales at Breakfast' and an international and Mediterranean market lunch on 26 September.
Jebel Akhdar is part of Oman's Al Hajar mountain range in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. The mountain rises to 2,980 metres and includes the Saiq Plateau at approximately 2,000 metres, where terraced orchards produce pomegranates, apricots and roses.
The region's agricultural character shapes the festival beyond a simple scenic backdrop. Olive picking, local oil tasting and visits to working olive presses place production activity alongside the plateau's established orchard culture. Oman's national tourism portal describes the plateau and its orchards as defining features of the destination.
The event is concentrated at the Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort rather than spread across the mountain's trails and villages. The organiser notes that festival activities are subject to advance reservation, meaning the published programme does not guarantee general access without booking.
The festival offers visitors a direct way to engage with the mountain's agricultural identity in September. The closing day, 27 September 2026, features 'Olive Tales at Breakfast' and the closing ceremony, while earlier days host the competitions, market and press visits.
