Honeywell announced that SAF One Energy Management Limited will use Honeywell UOP’s Ecofining technology to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
Tata Projects Limited, the engineering and construction arm of Tata Group, has been appointed as the engineering, procurement, and construction partner for the project. Honeywell and Tata Projects will jointly provide an integrated solution tailored to SAF One’s project requirements.
Honeywell UOP’s Ecofining technology, developed in collaboration with Eni S.p.A., provides a cost- and capital-efficient solution for processing waste fats, oils, and greases into renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel.
The collaboration represents an important milestone in SAF One’s plans to develop multiple SAF production units globally, including one in India.
By deploying Honeywell UOP’s Ecofining technology, SAF One will convert used cooking oil and other waste oils and fats into sustainable aviation fuel, helping the aviation industry reduce lifecycle emissions and advance its decarbonization goals.
Rajesh Gattupalli, President of Honeywell UOP, said the company’s Ecofining technology expands the potential feedstock base for SAF and enables producers to adapt to changing market conditions and resource availability.
He added that Honeywell’s expertise and continued process-engineering developments aim to make SAF production more economically viable, while the deployment with SAF One and Tata Projects demonstrates Honeywell’s leadership in scalable renewable fuel production.
Rajiv Menon, President and Chief Operating Officer for Energy and Industrial Business at Tata Projects Limited, said the collaboration highlights the value of early engineering integration and disciplined execution in delivering scalable SAF projects.
Deepak Munganahalli, co-founder and CEO of SAF One, said the expertise of Honeywell and Tata Projects supports SAF One’s “design one, build many” approach across its SAF project portfolio and strengthens its ability to deliver long-term, scalable decarbonization solutions.
Honeywell and Tata Projects are jointly optimizing the technology configuration to maximize capital efficiency, improve project timelines, and deliver a solution aligned with SAF One’s global deployment strategy.
The collaboration supports climate mitigation ambitions in India and globally and reinforces Honeywell’s leadership in developing SAF technologies for international markets.
