Golden Agri-Resources (GAR), a prominent Indonesia-focused agribusiness group, has officially stated that recent forest and peatland fires in Indonesia, along with the subsequent transboundary haze, have caused no material disruption to its operations. The Singapore-listed group (SGX: E5H) confirmed that its extensive palm oil plantations, processing facilities, and other critical infrastructure remain fully operational, with no unplanned shutdowns reported across its various sites.
In a parallel disclosure to the Indonesia Stock Exchange, the group’s subsidiary, PT Sinar Mas Agro Resources and Technology Tbk (SMART), emphasized that the environmental conditions have had no material impact on its 2026 production targets. Furthermore, the company clarified that revenue streams, profit margins, and overall asset values remain secure and unaffected by the seasonal fire outbreaks in the region.
Addressing environmental accountability, Golden Agri-Resources asserted it has no evidence that its operations contributed to the fires or the resulting haze. The company further noted it has not been served with any formal notices of investigation, enforcement actions, or allegations from regulatory authorities. GAR highlighted its long-standing environmental protocols, specifically its 'Zero Burning Policy' established in 1997 and its 'No Peat Policy' introduced in 2010, both of which are strictly enforced across its operations and third-party supply chain.
The group detailed its proactive fire-prevention strategy, which includes enhanced monitoring systems and community-based 'fire-free' initiatives. While the company anticipates no significant operational, financial, legal, or reputational fallout from the current situation, it maintains a vigilant stance. Management pledged to continue monitoring the environmental landscape and will provide updates on any significant developments as they arise.
As a major player in the global palm oil industry, Golden Agri-Resources operates vast plantation assets across Kalimantan, Sumatra, and Papua. Through its subsidiary SMART, the group remains a pivotal producer of palm oil and related derivatives. Its sustainability framework, supported by technology-driven risk management, is designed to uphold its market position while ensuring adherence to environmental standards in the agribusiness sector.
