
As part of early preparations for Ramadan and in line with directives to secure citizens’ needs for basic commodities, Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, held an expanded meeting with leaders of the Holding Company for Food Industries and the heads of affiliated oil companies.
Strategic Stocks and Market Availability
While reviewing production and supply plans, the ministry confirmed that the strategic stock of subsidized cooking oil is safe and sufficient for at least five months.
The ministry said large volumes of edible oils continue to be supplied daily through various ration outlets and consumer complexes across Egypt, ensuring citizens’ needs are met regularly without shortages.
The supply includes around 21 edible oil products, including blended oil, sunflower oil, corn oil, and cottonseed oil, produced under 12 different brands. These include products from government-owned oil companies affiliated with the holding company, as well as private-sector products, to ensure variety and quality.

During the meeting, Dr. Sherif Farouk stressed the strategic importance of the oils industry and directed companies to fully comply with quality standards and technical specifications.
The meeting also discussed plans to develop factories and modernize production lines using advanced technology to raise operational efficiency and reduce waste, strengthening the competitiveness of national products.
