Egypt’s Supply Minister Reviews Ramadan Preparations: Oil Stocks Secure for Five Months and 21 Products Offered from EGP 46.5

As part of early preparations for Ramadan and in line with directives to secure citizens’ needs for basic commodities, Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, held an expanded meeting with leaders of the Holding Company for Food Industries and the heads of affiliated oil companies.

Strategic Stocks and Market Availability

While reviewing production and supply plans, the ministry confirmed that the strategic stock of subsidized cooking oil is safe and sufficient for at least five months.

The ministry said large volumes of edible oils continue to be supplied daily through various ration outlets and consumer complexes across Egypt, ensuring citizens’ needs are met regularly without shortages.

The supply includes around 21 edible oil products, including blended oil, sunflower oil, corn oil, and cottonseed oil, produced under 12 different brands. These include products from government-owned oil companies affiliated with the holding company, as well as private-sector products, to ensure variety and quality.

Oil Price List at Consumer Complexes

As part of transparency and fair pricing for consumers, the announced oil prices at consumer complexes were as follows:

• Blended oil:
  • 700 ml bottle: EGP 46.6.
  • 800 ml bottle: EGP 52.
  • 2.1 liter pack: EGP 148.
• Sunflower oil:
  • 700 ml bottle: EGP 49.5.
  • 750 ml bottle: EGP 59.
  • 800 ml bottle: between EGP 67 and EGP 71, depending on the product.
  • 900 ml bottle: EGP 63.5.
  • 1.1 liter bottle: EGP 140.
  • 1.2 liter bottle: EGP 123.
  • 2.5 liter pack: EGP 205.
• Corn oil:
  • 800 ml bottle: between EGP 68 and EGP 83, depending on the product.
  • 980 ml bottle: EGP 81.
  • 1 liter bottle: between EGP 96 and EGP 115.
  • 1.6 liter bottle: EGP 180.
  • 2.2 liter pack: EGP 241.
  • 2.7 liter pack: EGP 273.
• Cottonseed oil:
  • 1 liter bottle: EGP 76.

Industry Development and Quality Assurance

During the meeting, Dr. Sherif Farouk stressed the strategic importance of the oils industry and directed companies to fully comply with quality standards and technical specifications.

The meeting also discussed plans to develop factories and modernize production lines using advanced technology to raise operational efficiency and reduce waste, strengthening the competitiveness of national products.

The meeting was attended by ministry and holding-company leaders, including Major General Walid Abu El-Magd, deputy minister; Ahmed Kamal, official spokesperson; and the CEOs of major oil companies, including Abu El Hol, Alexandria, Tanta, Nile, Extracted Oils, and Misr Oils.
