As part of the Ministry of Interior’s ongoing efforts to combat supply-related crimes and protect public health and the national economy from the risks of adulterated goods, security authorities at the Menoufia Security Directorate uncovered illegal activity by an individual in Ashmoun district.
The ministry said investigations showed that the suspect was operating an unlicensed factory for producing and packaging cooking oils, using raw materials of unknown origin that violated health and environmental requirements. He also used counterfeit trademarks to mislead regulatory authorities and generate illegal profits.
After legal procedures were completed, the factory was targeted and its owner was arrested. Inspection of the site resulted in the seizure of a complete filling and packaging production line, six tonnes of cooking oils with unknown data stored in tanks, and large quantities of containers and labels bearing brand names in preparation for selling the product in the market.
The necessary legal measures were taken regarding the incident.
