Crude palm oil futures on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives closed lower, tracking weakness in the soybean oil market on the Chicago Board of Trade, a trader said.

David Ng, a private trader at Iceberg X Sdn Bhd, said expectations of weaker demand for crude palm oil in the coming weeks also weighed on sentiment.

"We see crude palm oil prices finding support above the 4,080 ringgit per tonne level, with resistance at 4,300 ringgit," he told Bernama.

At the close, the February 2026 contract fell 39 ringgit to 4,082 ringgit per tonne, while the March 2026 contract dropped 56 ringgit to 4,121 ringgit, and the April 2026 contract slipped 52 ringgit to 4,154 ringgit.

The May 2026 contract shed 51 ringgit to 4,163 ringgit per tonne, while the June 2026 and July 2026 contracts each declined 46 ringgit to 4,158 ringgit and 4,150 ringgit, respectively.

Trading volume fell to 66,389 lots from 74,745 lots the previous day, while open interest declined to 219,059 contracts from 219,182 previously.

The physical price of January South crude palm oil fell 30 ringgit to 4,130 ringgit per tonne.
