Understand customer and internal audit requirements and meet their objectives.
Leadership: Lead the MRP planning team through setting individual objectives, managing performance, recruiting qualified staff, developing and motivating staff, and providing formal and informal feedback and appraisal.
Day-to-Day Operations:
- Ensure material scheduling strategy and processes work effectively so material supply meets production requirements with minimum stock levels while optimising costs.
- Take ownership of material planning issues, including over/under delivery, and follow up especially on material shortages affecting production.
- Assess volume requirements against planning assumptions; manage inventory risk and ensure contingency plans are in place.
- Recommend solutions to meet production requirements and address operational risks; design and implement flexible solutions that drive process improvements.
- Ensure the MRP / IT system is effective and its data accurate and up to date; investigate and implement system enhancements.
- Achieve inventory optimization by updating the safety stock policy quarterly; ensure BOM integrity and inventory accuracy, and control inventory levels and movements.
- Own the obsolete parts process to minimize liability and waste.
- Report monthly on projected days cover at SKU and total-materials level; drive year-on-year inventory reduction and take corrective action when demand drops.
- Apply phase-in / phase-out with minimal leftover quantities, deplete carry-over stock, and obtain approvals for any write-offs.
- Develop interactive MRP reports based on a weekly bucket plan instead of a monthly plan.
- Share the monthly forecast (net supply plan) with procurement every S&OP cycle, and share MRP constraints and demand-change impacts with the Supply Chain Manager.
- Follow up required materials with the warehouse and purchasing teams; issue and follow up the PR cycle for packaging, chemicals, additives and oil on Oracle.
- Review materials on hand vs. planned stock levels weekly; review and update RM/PM safety stocks and reorder points quarterly to minimize FG out-of-stock risk.
- Issue weekly RM/PM POs for approval based on the production plan and inventory norms to meet working capital targets.
- Prepare the monthly RM/PM KPI report, including RM aging (freshness & expiry) and the Materials Availability Index at SKU level.
- Coordinate weekly with the production planner on whether the MPS is feasible from a materials standpoint.
- Monitor supplier delivery and quality performance, feed back to procurement, and analyze and resolve issues caused by supplier delays or demand increases.
- Investigate over-deliveries, delivery shortages and quality-related returns with suppliers.
- Develop a monthly vendor schedule with weekly item-level breakdown, considering promotions, discontinuations and new launches; review and maintain material master files quarterly.
Production Scheduling Changes: Expedite, de-expedite, create or cancel RM/PM POs to meet scheduling changes (machine breakdowns, manpower, supplier issues, commercial needs).
Materials Review: Monthly review of non-moving, slow-moving and moving materials with clear root cause analysis and time-bound corrective actions.
Standards & Regulations: Ensure activities are monitored and regulatory compliance audits and inspections are conducted.
Projects: Initiate and carry out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
Reporting: Ensure all function reports are prepared timely and accurately to BU requirements, policies and standards.
Health, Safety & Environment: Ensure compliance with all relevant safety and environmental procedures and controls across planning.
