ABOUT THE EVENT

The Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) is organizing the Palm Oil Economic Review & Outlook Seminar 2027 (R&O 2027) on 12–13 January 2027 at the Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. Held under the theme "Sustainability, Geopolitics, Productivity and Road Ahead", the event is expected to gather more than 300 participants from the oil palm sector and the wider oils and fats industry.

About the Seminar

The R&O Seminar is an annual MPOB event whose main objective is to present the performance of the Malaysian oil palm industry and forecast its performance for the current year. It also highlights Government initiatives supporting the industry's competitiveness and sustainability, and provides a platform for stakeholders to exchange views on strengthening palm oil's role in the global oils and fats market.

Programme

The seminar runs over two days and features two focused events:

  • Tuesday, 12 January 2027 — MPOB Insight Exchange (MIE): according to the tentative programme, the day focuses on biofuels, with topics including used cooking oil (UCO) and waste oil collection, supply and demand of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and advanced biofuels in Malaysia, the future of biofuels under the B30 programme, and biodiesel blending mandates and their effect on domestic demand and global market volatility. The day also includes an opening speech by Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad, Malaysia's Minister of Plantation and Commodities.
  • Wednesday, 13 January 2027 — R&O Seminar 2027: the main event reviewing the industry's performance and outlook.
